Great Hallingbury
History Society

Why We Started

In 1988, Heather Cocks had finished writing her book The Great House of Hallingbury, a carefully researched history of the owners and occupiers of the house and large estate around which the Hallingburys had developed.   Great Hallingbury History Society was formed to raise money to publish this book which is now in its second edition.

Since then, the History Society has published more books and pamphlets.

Now our main focus is on meetings at which our members can enjoy talks on a wide variety of historical topics - many local but of wider interest too.
