Great Hallingbury Speedwatch
Why do we need it?
There is an ever increasing number of people using the village as a cut through, more so now than ever before since the new Junction on the M11 has been opened and there have been closures on the M11 motorway both south and northbound.
After several concerns were raised it was agreed in 2023 that we would start up a Speed Watch Group only for Great Hallingbury as Little Hallingbury has its own.
Objective
It is not a case of Big Brother watching over people, neither are we setting out to catch people. The idea is that if drivers see a regular presence, then they will either drive at a safer speed or find an alternative route.
What do we do?
We have three pre-determined sites: one near to the Village Hall, another close to The Grove and a third on the B1256 between Start Hill Industrial Estate and Thremhall Park.
Each time we go out, we need at least three participants and generally we are out at the various sites for no more than 1.5 hours on any one day. Ideally we would like to go out at least twice in every three weeks.
Come and join us
We need more people to join us so please, if you are interested in making our village roads safer (even if your time is limited), then please contact Mark Colletta at cllrcolettapc@gmail.com or Val Waring at val@valwaring.co.uk for more information.
There is online training which has to be completed prior to going out but it takes no more than a couple of hours.
